Safari Vacations

Gadgets on Safari

We were set a challenge by the guys at africasky.co.uk to find some cool and useful gadgets that people could use and benefit from on their safari holidays.

After a brief trawl of the internet, we came across the above piece of video on youtube.com following a couple of likely lads reviewing the latest camping technologies.

In their report they include 5 great gadgets as follows:

1. The Gorilla Pod

2. Oregon Scientific Meteo Weather Forecast Watch

3. Solio Solar-Powered Battery Charger

4. Survival Kit in a Sardine Can

5. Oregan Scientific Action Cam.

Firstly, we thought, ‘great – job done!’ then we decided to be a bit daft and find some slightly wackier camping gadgets that would be fun, but completely unnecessary for African safari holidays.

Here follows our list:

1. The Beer Belly

2. Pen Fishing Rod

3. Handspresso Personal Portable Espresso Maker

4. Spot GPS Device

5. SensorfreshQ

The Beer Belly

Retailing at around £20, The Beer Belly is a useful piece of kit if you want to have a sneaky alcoholic beverage or if you just can’t be bothered to hold a cup in your hands. Particularly useful if running from a pride of Lions.

Hidden under your wares, this bag is strapped to your tummy. When filled with liquid it swells, giving you the appearance of having a beer belly. There is a tube that you can drink the liquid from and you can hide it in the sleeve of your khaki safari shirt so no-one can see you sipping!

Pen Fishing Rod

The best thing about the Pen Fishing Rod is that it is not even a pen!  It is a fishing rod that (like a transistor radio aerial) can be extended to 4 feet and then retracted. This product though is not going to withstand the tugging and pulling of a Nile crocodile – so be careful where you fish.

Handspresso Personal Portable Espresso Maker

When feeling the call from the wild, you never know when the urge for a coffee may take you. Coffee…mmmm….Ideally you need to safari in Kenya to get the full effect. Never leave without means for making coffee.

Spot GPS Device

Always keep a handy supply of Spot GPS Devices to throw for wild beast to eat.It is always useful to know where animals that can eat you are hiding.

SensorfreshQ

Waste not want not -  If you find some leftover meat from the big cats supper, why not test it to ensure it does not contain and bacteria not good fro human consumption. All good? Time to cook a Bar-B-Q!
